Your hosts, Bill Leckie and Mandy Vernon

Bill Leckie and Mandy Vernon are born and bred Kiwis with a history of success in business and sports. They know their chosen cruising grounds — in New Zealand and Tonga — intimately. They enjoy the ocean and everything it has to offer including snorkelling and diving, fishing, sailing and windsurfing, and the unique contentment and tranquillity that relaxing at sea brings to troubled urbanites. And, above all, they enjoy sharing their love of the sea with small groups — maximum four adults — of busy, interesting and like-minded clients, from all over the world, who will appreciate the safety, security, comfort and luxury of the fully refurbished Takapu².

'It's a lifestyle thing'

With their purchase of Takapu² — from the Royal New Zealand Navy in December 2000 — Bill and Mandy made a lifestyle decision. They chose to abandon the pressures of modern business, and city life, without abandoning modernity or civilisation. Instead they chose to combine their love of the sea with a business that would become their life, on an ocean-going charter vessel that would become their home.
